From the looks of it, Vivo is fully embracing its diamond-shaped
camera module design, now that another Vivo offering will be sporting
it. We first saw the diamond-style quad-camera setup with the upcoming Vivo S5,
the V17 will be debuting with a similar rear-lens housing by the end of
this month. And courtesy of Hi-tech Mail – a popular Russian
publication, we already have gotten a look at live shots and early
renders for this device.
According to a reputable Indian source, Vivo V17 Pro
hasn’t been received well as evident by the poor sales. And because the
Pro variant didn’t do particularly well, Vivo will be pulling the plug
on it in India and discontinuing its sales, in hopes of replacing it
with the upcoming Vivo V17 (confusing branding, we know). Coming back to
the image leaks by Hi-tech Mail, you’re looking at a tear-drop notch, a
near-bezel-free display, and an integrated fingerprint reader sitting
under that display.
The design on the back is oddly similar to the Vivo S5 with its
slightly protruding, shiny quad-camera setup housed inside a rounded
diamond-shape. The design choice seemingly looks better on the S5 by a
wide margin, unlike on the V17, where it feels out-of-place and a little
strange. The back panel offers a glossy white multi-hued finish but we
expect it to arrive with more color options at a pocket-friendly Vivo Price tag. Also unlike the S5, the V17 features a sandwiched-glass design.
As for the optics package, Vivo V17
will offer a 48-megapixel primary unit but the Russian publication
doesn’t share further details. Under the hood, the phone will rock up to
8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of onboard storage. This hardware will draw
power from a 4,500 mAh battery but we have yet to hear about its
fast-charging capabilities.
Vivo is readying to launch this device before November ends and the
Russian and Indian markets might be the first where this mid-tier
offering lands. We don't know yet if the handset will ever reach the
Pakistani market but the speculations suggest that the phone will be
retailing for $350 which roughly comes to 55,000 PKR.
