Lenovo Z5 Pro is The World’s First Phone With Snapdragon 855 & 12GB RAM

Lenovo is pushing the boundaries with its new Z5 Pro, which was launched today in China alongside the Z5s.
The smartphone is pretty much the same Z5 Pro launched earlier, which debuted as the company’s first slider, all-screen phone.

Lenovo’s new “super flagship” phone is more about raw internal performance rather than noticeable external visual changes, as the phone is almost the same as the older Z5 Pro in terms of design and display. It has the same front camera slider and almost bezel-less front.
The 855 edition, however, has a different rear cover, featuring a carbon fiber texture with red accents to enhance the body’s premium characteristic.
For the display, the company is sticking to the same 6.39-inch AMOLED display with FHD+ resolution.

Hardware & Storage

The interesting bit is the phone’s all-new Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset. Lenovo Z5 Pro 855 edition is the first smartphone to feature this chipset and comes with some performance enhancement as compared to SD845 phones.
Lenovo posted some benchmark figures, showing off the new Z5 Pro’s highest-ever 368,480 Antutu score. The score is higher than Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset, but do note that the phone’s 12 GB RAM has also helped Lenovo achieve this score.
The benchmark comparison is shown below:

As for storage, the 855 edition comes with up to 512 GB internal storage, while low-spec trims of 128 GB and 256 GB are also available.

Camera & Software

The SD855 flagship will feature a dual camera set up on the rear, featuring a Sony IMX576 24-megapixel + Sony IMX519 16-megapixel set up, that comes well-equipped with decent AI features and software enhancements.
The pop-up slider houses a dual-cam selfie module for quality front-facing photos, that uses a 16MP+8MP arrangement.
The software is going to be Android 9.0 Pie with Lenovo’s ZUI 10 on top.

Battery, Price, & Availability

Lenovo included a 3,350 mAh battery in the package, which is a bit small as compared to other flagships. Fast charging is supported.
Pricing is as follows:
  1. 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 2,698 Yuan (~$391)
  2. 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage – 2,998 Yuan (~$435)
  3. 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage – 3998 Yuan (~$579)
  4. 12 GB RAM + 512 GB storage – 4398 Yuan (~$638)
You can pre-book a Z5 Pro 855 edition starting 1 January, though official sales throughout official outlets will start on 24 January.
