OPPO R17 Pro Unboxing and Initial Impressions [Video]

OPPO recently launched its latest R-series phone in Pakistan, called R17 Pro. OPPO usually experiments with new features in its R-series phones, which is why we’re looking forward to this one.
It comes with a variety of features like an in-display fingerprint reader, triple cameras on the back including a 3D Time of Flight sensor and more.
We at ProPakistani got our hands on one of these and today we’re going to unbox the phone and see give you our first impressions about the device.

The box comes in a cool blue color with an embossed R17 Pro written on the front. Opening it up we’re greeted with the phone wrapped in a plastic cover.
Setting the phone aside, there’s another plastic box inside which has a silicone cover for the R17 Pro, a nice touch as you won’t have to go and buy one yourself. Even if you want a different cover you can use this one until you buy the new one.
The smaller box also has a SIM ejection tool as well as a user manual for the phone.
Underneath the second box is OPPO’s 50W SuperVOOC charger with a USB type-C cable and a pair of earphones.

Initial Impressions

Taking the plastic wrapping off the R17 Pro, the phone’s Emerald Green back shimmers as the light hits it at the right angle.
Also on the back is a dual camera setup with a 12 MP dual aperture (f/1.5 – f/2.4) lens paired with a 20 MP f/2.6 sensor. There’s also a 3D ToF camera above the cameras, we’ll find out what it does in the full review.
There’s a power button on one side and a volume rocker on the other, there’s no 3.5mm headphone jack but it does have USB-C earphones so you don’t have to worry about not having it. The bottom USB-C port is flanked by the speaker grille on one side and a SIM tray on the other.
On the front, you get a familiar looking notched display which is a lot like other OPPO phones like the F9 and A7. There’s a 25MP camera in the small waterdrop notch at the top along with the usual sensors.
Turning on the phone, the lack of bezels is the first thing we notice. OPPO mentioned that the screen to body ratio is 91.5%, which is pretty impressive. The display is a 6.4-inch AMOLED unit at Full HD+ resolution. The colors look punchy and vivid, and if you’re a fan of OLED displays, the R17 Pro will look very familiar to you.
As always, we’ll go into more detail in the full review. Until then, stay tuned for more on OPPO devices.
