Oppo’s sub-brand Realme is a prime example of how manufacturers can
squeeze premium-tier features into not-so-premium budget phones. Realme
has been introducing these sub-flagships left and right and launched
back in November, the Realme 5s is no exception. Offered at a more than
competitive price tag, this powerhouse of a smartphone is now making a
debut in Pakistan. Here are the details.
Realme Pakistan’s official Facebook page reveals that Realme 5s
will be released in Pakistan at a launch event on December 23rd, 2019.
The post further details that this mid-ranger will arrive in two color
options: Crystal Red and Crystal Blue. Said another way, we won’t be
getting the Crystal Purple variant but you’re looking at the same spec
sheet as the global release (more or less).
The 5s might run you just south of 30,000 PKR, but Realme has managed
to integrate an all-screen dew-drop-toting display and a stunning
quad-camera setup into the package. You get a 6.5-inch LCD display that
produces an HD+ resolution. The side-bezels and the chin on the display
have been trimmed to a point where they’re barely noticeable, bringing
the screen-to-body ratio to a respectable 89 percent.
Now the design is tame, but that’s not what the Realme 5s
is meant to be. It’s a ‘performance-first’ smartphone. To that end, it
features some excellent camera-centric hardware. The primary of its four
lenses is an AI-enhanced 48-megapixel sensor, with up to 10X digital
zoom.
Underneath it, sits an 8-megapixel 119-degree
ultra-wide-angle shooter. Finally, this optics set is rounded off by a
pair of 2-megapixel portrait and macro cameras. Inside the notch, is
embedded a decent 13-megapixel selfie shooter.
The
internals are reasonably robust. The 5s packs a (slightly outdated)
Snapdragon 665 chipset, alongside 4 GB of memory and up to 128 GB of
native storage. A 5,000 mAh battery backs this hardware and supports 10W
fast-charging. Realme claims that the phone roughly has a 30-day
standby capacity and that it features intelligent AI-augmented cooling
for improved performance and battery life. And you get all of that at an
affordable Realme price
As touched on above, we expect the Realme 5s to retail anywhere from
25,000 to 28,000 PKR but we’ll have confirmation on December 23rd. Do
you think the 5s gives you the bang for your buck?.
