Oppo is working on a new camera technology that might help it secure some good sale numbers in the future.
Back in 2017, Oppo unveiled its 5x hybrid zoom dual lens system at
the MWC global event. And now, the company is taking things to another
level and is working on 10x hybrid lossless zoom lenses.
According to patent documents, that were leaked recently on the web,
the company’s upcoming smartphone lenses will allow 10x zoom without
compromising image quality. Not only that, but the leak claims that is
technology will be coming to future Oppo F19 and F19 Pro smartphones.
Furthermore, the leak states that an Oppo insider has also confirmed
that the new camera technology will be showcased at MWC 2019 tech expo,
in Barcelona, Spain in February 2019.
As per the patent documents (shown below), Oppo is planning to use a
dual camera set up to achieve this incredible level of optical zoom.
It looks like a basic dual cam set up with an LED flash beside it. It
should be mentioned that the hybrid zoom feature has not been detailed
in the documents for now.
Even the company’s precious 5x hybrid zoom hasn’t been commercialized
as of yet, so it might take some time before we get to see 10x lossless
zoom on a smartphone. According to rumors, the F19 and F19 Pro
smartphones – two upcoming midrange phones with Snapdragon 675 chipsets –
are going to feature this technology, but we can’t say for sure yet.
And as for how exactly the 10x zoom works, the company hasn’t revealed anything related to this technology.
