Vivo
has been pushing for a truly bezel-free design for a while now. First,
with their ‘waterfall’ displays that lopped off physical buttons to
maximize screen real-estate, but they were mostly hit-and-miss. But now,
Vivo seems to be adopting a different approach with its APEX 2020, as
evident by a few live images spotted online.
Unlike the Samsung
Galaxy flagships, The upcoming flagship AKA the Vivo Apex 2020 promises
a waterfall-display type curved and bezel-free screen with a
higher-than-typical screen-to-body ratio.
The front-selfie-camera on the new Vivo mobile
is rumored to be mounted on a motorized pop-up module, but if
innovation is the selling point here, we might be looking at a more
novel ‘under-the-display’ selfie camera.
Vivo has trimmed the bezels as far as they could without axing the
power and volume buttons. The display curves towards the edges like you
see in a water-fall display, so there are virtually no side bezels.
These early Vivo Apex 2020 hands-on images don’t reveal the design on
the back panel or the camera details, so additional specification
details are thin on the ground.
The APEX 2020 might be making a debut at MWC 2020 since it’s shaping up
to be the mystery device many rumors point to (others still think that
Vivo has a foldable phone in the works, but as of yet there haven’t been
any concrete details). The Chinese smartphone maker is officially going
to be part of the MWC exhibit for the first time, so it’ll make sense
to introduce APEX 2020 at the event.
