Oppo Reno 3 Pro to Feature Snapdragon 765G; another Mystery Smartphone to come with Snapdragon 865

Qualcomm’s next generation of chipsets that feature built-in 5G modems promises flagship 5G smartphones that don’t cost consumers an arm and a leg. Oppo will be launching its upcoming OPPO Reno 3 Pro with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G chipset later this month, says Oppo’s president of global sales, Alen Wu., The 7nm chipset -- keeping up with the ever-slimming smartphones -- will offer 5G connectivity and will be a powerhouse in an ultra-thin package.

A mystery flagship device accompanied the Oppo Reno 3 Pro announcement. Oppo officials detailed that the unnamed smartphone will run on a Snapdragon 865 chipset and will be launched as early as the first quarter of 2020. That said, Oppo isn’t the only Chinese manufacturer in the race to introduce the 865 SoC on their flagship devices first. Top-tier manufacturers like Xiaomi have their own plans in place.
tional details are still thin on the ground, but Reno 3 Pro bearing the model number PCPM00, has been signed off by the FCC. The same certification gives us a peek into the partial spec sheet. Reno 3 Pro will feature the SD 765G chipset mentioned above, which will be rounded off by up to 8 GB of RAM, alongside 128 GB of onboard storage. You get a dedicated microSD slot with support for up to 256 GB of expandable storage.


The certification also showcases the early renders for the Reno 3 Pro. Pictured above, you’re looking at a 6.4-inch notched display that produces an FHD+ resolution and houses an in-display fingerprint reader underneath. The screen is edge-to-edge and curves towards the edges in a waterfall-esque manner, but it doesn’t lop off the physical buttons. The OPPO renders show volume rockers and a power button accented with a green hue. The back panel has been tipped to arrive in black and white options.
 On the back, you get a respectable quad-camera setup: a 48-megapixel primary lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide-angle sensor, and a pair of 2-megapixel modules. Nestled inside the notch out front is a modest 16-megapixel selfie shooter. A 4,025 mAh battery will back this hardware but its fast-charging capabilities (if any) are kept under the wraps for now.
