Leaked Huawei P40 Lite with a punch hole display looks to be just a rebranded nova 6 SE

As WhatMobile reported earlier, Huawei has its first flagship for the year 2020 in the works, and it is expected to introduce it in the first quarter of the next year. The flagship offering in question, dubbed Huawei P40, has been tipped to debut with a Pro variant, but as a leak by a Twitter user promises, a ‘Lite’ version of the Huawei P40 will also accompany this launch. The tweet further details that this ‘Lite’ P40 will be a rebranded Huawei Nova 6 SE.

Huawei often rebrands its offerings outside its domestic market, so it won’t come as a surprise if the Huawei P40 Lite is a Nova 6 SE, in a different skin.  The latter device made a debut last week, with its iPhone-inspired camera setup and punch-hole design. Twitter account @Rodent950 – the source where the leak comes from, also posted a render of the alleged P40 Lite, which is essentially just a black Huawei Nova 6 SE.
If the leak is legitimate, we are hoping that the company introduces the P40 Lite with more color options and a lesser Huawei Price. Nova 6 SE (and its global variant P40 Lite as well) brings a 6.4-inch LCD with trimmed bezels, that produces an FHD+ resolution and touts a punch-hole design.

The identical-sized lenses on the P40 Lite back feature a 48-megapixel unit, an 8-megapixel ultrawide-angle sensor, and a set of two 2-megapixel macro and depth sensors. The quad-camera seems to draw inspiration from this year’s iPhone 11 but packs four modules, instead of three. The capacitive fingerprint reader has migrated from the back to the side.
Under the hood, you get Huawei’s Kirin 810 chipset, with a memory configuration of 8GB + 128 GB. Huawei P40 Lite internals are reasonably robust (at least befitting the ‘SE’ moniker) and are backed by a 4,200 mAh battery that supports 40W fast-charging. An Android-10-based EMUI 10 powers this hardware, but we haven’t received word on whether or not it will ship with GMS outside China.
