Samsung Galaxy S11e Will Have a Much Bigger Battery Than S10e

Samsung is gearing up to launch its new flagship, the Galaxy S11, by February 2020. Recently, a certification for a battery with model number EB-BG980ABY was released on the SafetyKorea website. The battery is supposed to go into a Samsung phone with model number SM-G980.
If we look at the last year’s reports, the S10e came with a model number SM-G970. Hence, it is safe to speculate that the S11e will bear the SM-G980 model number.

The SafetyKorea website has also uploaded a low-quality picture of the battery but it still shows that the battery is rated 14.36 Wh and operated at 3.85V.
This means it has a total capacity of 3730 mAh and will be advertised at 3800 to 3900 mAh in the marketing materials. If the speculations turn out to be true, the cell will be an over 20% improvement over the 3100 mAh battery housed in the S10e.
Moreover, the battery has a square shape. Hence, it is completely redesigned as compared to the Galaxy S10e’s battery and is bigger in capacity.
One of the reasons for a bigger battery may be the 5G connectivity that will be a part of all models from the S11 lineup. The smartphone is also rumored to feature a 90 Hz display that requires more power.
